THOUGHTS FROM THE BUS

Another day, another stop on the amazing Big Pink Bus Tour. This afternoon’s rally in Cleveland, OH was hard to gauge because of bad weather, with the temperature projected to be in the mid 30s with a 90% chance of rain, sleet, or “wintry mix” depending on the news source.

But NOTHING can stop the Big Pink Bus! The heavens graced us with a break from the expected precipitation and the sun came out just in time for our rally at the Cleveland Health Center on Euclid Ave. One hundred energetic supporters came out and joined us for the event.

The ever-enthusiastic Tara Broderick, CEO of PP of Northeast Ohio, emceed the event, which included Melody Allen, a patient whose ovarian cyst was diagnosed at a Planned Parenthood Health Center, and Sheila Sullivan from AGAPE, a partnership between the Cleveland Clinic and Antioch Baptist Church to combat HIV/AIDS in the African American community. AGAPE is set up in the Planned Parenthood Health center and Sheila highlighted the importance of that collaboration in serving the greater Cleveland community. We were also joined by staff from the offices of Rep. Marcia Fudge and Sen. Sherrod Brown, showing the commitment of our friends in Congress.

We’ll leave you with the lyrics from one of our supporters – Wesley Washington showed up to the rally with his guitar and made up a Planned Parenthood song on the spot!

It’s only fair. We all need health care
