Hattiesburg, MS and the University of Southern Mississippi really made this trip to the south something special. We started the day at USM where students were overjoyed to see the Big Pink Bus on campus. Many expressed their appreciation for our presence after having anti-choice demonstrations on campus several days earlier. The Truth Team ran into a pretty good problem - students were coming up to the table, signing the petition, and grabbing "I Stand With Planned Parenthood" t-shirts faster than we could blink! In the end, 416 petitions were signed in Hattiesburg. Thanks so much to
Planned Parenthood Southeast for coordinating with the Truth Team and USM to make this event happen.
Later in the evening, we got the opportunity to meet some awesome staff, volunteers, and supporters of PPSE at the
Goddard Gallery in downtown Hattiesburg. It's always special when you can thank the men and women who do this work every day in person. One of our favorite PPSE volunteers was a septuagenarian named David who said he spends his retirement helping out Planned Parenthood because he raised five daughters and that's reason enough. Loved him and everyone else we met in Mississippi.
Onward east. Stay tuned to hear all about the next stops for the Big Pink Bus.
