We started the day with a stop at the Planned Parenthood health center in Muncie, IN to drop off some coffee and bagels for the hard-working staff who are on the front lines every day. Sharon, the receptionist who has worked there for 21 years, was excited about the bus and rally. She said, “I haven’t seen anything like this.” Neither have we!! It is definitely the consensus of the staff on the bus that this is a one-of-a-kind experience, every day and every stop we make on the tour.
At lunch time, we pulled into downtown Muncie for a rally across the street from Rep. Mike Pence’s office. Fifty enthusiastic supporters braved the cold weather to send him a clear message that if he supports Title X, he should support Planned Parenthood – the largest provider under the Title X program!
The supporters in Muncie were truly amazing. We made a new friend, Curtis Bow, a nurse practitioner who is looking for ways to engage medical professionals in the fight for Planned Parenthood. And Planned Parenthood Indiana Community Organizer Katie Blair moved the crowd with her fiery spirit.
We are now en route to Wisconsin for two rallies in Madison and one in Milwaukee tomorrow. But not before stopping at a truck wash in Lebanon, IN. Yes, even the bus needs a bath.
