Hello from Mississippi! The Big Pink Bus is parked on the campus of the University of Southern Mississippi and we're definitely feeling the southern hospitality down here. Students are coming by to sign the petition and get pink. It's great to see the local student volunteers out here bringing this important issue to their classmates. We met one awesome volunteer, Zach Booth who is a senior here at Southern Miss. He's been volunteering with Planned Parenthood since his sophomore year. Zach, who grew up Catholic and as he says, "uncritically pro-life," says he's been pro-choice since he watched a family member go through a tough pregnancy. While she was fortunate enough to be able to stay home from work and receive quality medical care, Zach thought about women who didn't have those luxuries but still endured terribly difficult pregnancies. He then started to think critically about the effects unintended and teen pregnancy on the state of Mississippi, which impacts not only those who are pregnant, but everyone in the state.
Doesn't it just give you so much hope to see our young, pro-choice men and women so passionately advocating for women's health and family planning?
